Dr. Amit Garud, orthopedic & joint replacement surgeon in Kalyan, explains, “Tennis elbow isn’t just for athletes — it’s a common overuse injury that affects anyone with repetitive arm movements.”
Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is caused by inflammation of the tendons that attach forearm muscles to the outer elbow. It’s often triggered by repetitive tasks like typing, painting, or using tools — not just playing tennis.
– Pain or burning sensation on the outer elbow
– Weak grip strength
– Discomfort when lifting, shaking hands, or turning a doorknob
– Pain radiating to forearm or wrist
– Stiffness, especially in the morning
Studies show tennis elbow affects 1–3% of the population annually, mostly between ages 30–60. Early rest, physiotherapy, and ergonomic changes can prevent chronic damage.
